OPINIONS/DISCUSSIONS OF VOICEWRITING AND ELECTRONIC RECORDING TECHNOLOGIES

WHERE TO LEARN VOICEWRITING (online)

VOICE RECOGNITION:
Where is it at?

Believe it when you see it, especially when talking about applying this technology to a specific application.

Voice rec doesn't happen spontaneously off the air from multiple, independent speakers in any environment, particularly where speakers overtalk each other. In judicial proceedings, the speaker must use a stenomask, further complicating sound recognition, although captioning can be done without the use of the mask.

VOICE REC LINKS TO WATCH

IS IT FOR YOU?

I confess I have difficulty having my voice recognized sufficiently well that I would consider using this technology and have a definite bias against talking, period. But for those who don't mind this concept that won't matter.

It will, however, be interesting to see the amount of voice strain produced by this new technology, being more demanding than straight stenomasking sans computerization. Talking to computer software has proven to be quite unlike simply talking to another human being, so this is an area that must be tracked. (Opera singers may have a few hints for voicewriters.)
